The main issue is stuff that's being loaded during a match so cutting that down will help the most because that's when the PS3 is strained the most. Things like removing the MQ wouldn't help much except for when you were in the "new sudo MQ" (if it's made to just a menu) and replacing it with sitting in the warbarge would actually hurt a little bit because then there's more things being loaded because the warbarge area is larger than the MQ and you also have to load the other player models.
Things I think would help a lot is reducing graphics quality (there was a big performance drop for a while after they bumped up the graphics from Chromosome to what we have now even though there wasn't much of a visual difference [to me at least]) and cutting of most of the no go zone of the maps because there actual terrain is 5x5km (iirc) but we only play on about 1x1km of it at most on the maps with the largest play areas. The terrain we don't actually use is eating up a lot of memory.
Reducing object count will help as others have already pointed out the mostly useless installations in the red line. But things like MCC missiles and Null missiles could have their models removed without really affecting gameplay (most pilots are blindsided by them anyways when they are hit by them) but still opening up a bit of memory. Also removing the RDV and just having vehicle materialize just as they dematerialize would also clear up a bit of rooming. Removing some of the crates and other pointless objects in the redline would help a bit as well which of course there are some maps that need the little things to provide some cover since there aren't buildings blocking people from farming your team at those spots.
removing custom channels from in-match, as already suggested, would help; all you really need is squad and team for pubs. FW only really needs squad and team can be replaced with a district specific FW channel so that custom channels aren't needed for communication between EVE and Dust. PC only needs a district specific channel because everyone on a side joins the same custom channel anyways.
There's probably much more we could nickle and dime out of the game that I can't think of right now.

I do wonder about removing Play Station Move support though. If that's loaded into memory for everyone (if you're using it or not) then I say delete all of that code. It's worthless, nobody uses it. We could get rid of that stupid splash screen too and replace it with something cool (like adverts for our corps that we buy with AUR).
The splash screens hide loading screens, though. Wouldn't adverts take memory as well? vOv
Yes but only when they're on screen unless the devs aren't releasing memory properly, if they are to replace the Move screens. Honestly though I would support this, they could sell that space to advertise others games or what ever. It'd simplify the code for controls a bit as well in bring in a bit of extra money that would hopefully be put back into Dust's development.
